** St John’s Church to be cordoned off for safety **
Barriers will be put on Friday 9 December around the former St John’s Church – now part of 20-21 Visual Arts Centre – after a piece of masonry fell from the building.
The cordoning off of the church is a precautionary measure whilst a survey is carried out on the building.
The inside of St John’s will also be closed meaning visitors to the gallery will not be able to access the exhibition spaces in the Nave and Chancel. The other exhibitions, café and shop at 20-21 will remain open as normal.
Cllr Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for Health and Wellbeing at North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“It is in the interests of public safety that we are restricting access to the former St John’s Church.
“We apologise to visitors of the gallery for the partial closure; we hope you’ll bear with us. The café and gift shop are still open so you can continue your Christmas shopping or grab a coffee!”
