Sense of Place – A virtual exhibition in a 3d digital space
Call out for submissions
20-21 Visual Arts Centre has commissioned artist Sam Metz to work with us to create a virtual gallery space. In a virtual gallery takeover, she is inviting 16-25 year olds to submit images of visual artwork for display in the 3d digital space she has created, responding to the theme ‘Sense of Place’. We want to know how you feel about rootedness and being connected to your home (perhaps that has changed over the past few months).
We are looking submissions for visual art that can be photographed and displayed in our specially designed 3d digital space. The exhibition will be curated by young people wanting to gain experience in this field, working under the guidance of Sam Metz and other experienced professionals.
Send your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
Deadline: Friday 10 July
Call out for curators
Thank you to all who applied – the call out for curators is now closed
Sam is also looking for young people who would like to curate this exhibition; to learn about and gain experience in selecting artworks and designing an exhibition for public display, and in co-production.
Again, this is for 16-25 year olds and those taking part will be given guidance and instruction by Sam, invited professionals, and staff from 20-21, as they work collaboratively to create the virtual exhibition. Of course people are welcome to just submit work, just curate, or to do both.
The initial call out will go out over Instagram, Twitter and Facebook over a period of two weeks from 22 May 2020. During this time anyone who would like to be involved should contact us by emailing email@example.com. The project is set to run throughout June, with the finished virtual exhibition being available to view in a series of short videos from July.
