Information for Artists

Artist opportunities

20-21 Visual Arts Centre hosts a diverse programme of exhibitions across all six exhibition spaces and offers a number of opportunities for regional, national and international artists to exhibit or sell work.

20-21 regularly post opportunities to be included in group exhibitions, apply for commissions or other specific projects on artist opportunities listings sites such as a-n, Arts Council England, CuratorSpaceArtDeadline.com and Axisweb (please note: you may have to subscribe to be able to view opportunities listings on some websites).

Digital Ambassadors

Call out for Expressions of Interest

We’re very happy to be working with artist Sam Metz, who will be heading up our upcoming programme of digital activity at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre.

As part of this process we are looking for four Digital Ambassadors to form a steering group for the upcoming programme. The Digital Ambassadors will co-produce a digital takeover with Sam, working together to curate digital activity.

Although the project is all about digital we would most like to hear from people who know Scunthorpe and who are from North Lincolnshire.

You will get an opportunity to work with digital artists and learn about different approaches to creating digital artwork. As part of the team you will be reviewing digital artworks and events, and will receive support in creating audio, visual and text content to do this. The work will be delivered online with the option to meetup if it is safe to do so.

Your level of experience of digital artwork is not a major factor here. We are looking for four people who are passionate about trying something new, and who can make our digital programme a success.

You will need to be aged 16+ to be considered (applicants aged 16-18 will need permission of parents/guardians to be involved). There is no maximum age limit. You will receive a contribution of £140/month for your time, which should equate to around six hours per month up to £420 We envisage the project running from October to February with time off for Christmas holidays!

If you are interested, please watch Sam’s VideoAsk in full, and respond to the question asked in whichever way you are most comfortable with, whether video, text or audio (please get in touch if you’d like any access support by emailing curatoriallgallery@gmail.com). Please note ambassadors will be responsible for their own tax and insurance.

Deadline for expression of interest is 1st October and please do get in touch if we can support you in any way.

Young Creatives Group

Are you 16- 21 years old? Do you like art and being creative? Do you make and design things at home or at college? Would you like to work in a gallery or museum? Then 20-21 Visual Arts Centre needs your help!

To celebrate the creative talent in North Lincolnshire, 20-21 is starting a Young Creatives Group.  The group will work with our exhibitions team to help plan and decide the Centre’s upcoming exhibitions, projects, workshops and activities.

This is an opportunity for young people to meet artists and likeminded creatives. It is also an opportunity to explore careers in a gallery and other cultural venues and to work voluntarily with experienced professionals.

If you would like to join the group our first session will be held on Tuesday 5th October, 5-6pm at 2021 Visual Arts Centre. This will be a 1hr/term time commitment. You can just turn up – no booking needed.

If you would like to know more about the group, please get in touch with laura.higgins@northlincs.gov.uk

Other Artist Opportunities

Artist workshops

20-21 runs artist-led workshops in conjunction with our exhibition programme or aimed at specific audience groups. We also hold a database of artists, which we are able to distribute in response to enquiries about workshop leaders within the region who are experienced in leading creative activity sessions.

If you are an artist experienced in running creative workshops for adults, children, school groups or groups with special needs, there may be occasional opportunities to run sessions within our workshop programme. Please email your contact details, a brief CV and details of your workshop experience to 20-21.epd@northlincs.gov.uk to be placed on our database of workshop artists.

20-21 shop

We encourage artist and craft makers from the UK, Europe and particularly from the counties of Lincolnshire to apply to have work stocked in the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre shop. Please see the 20-21 Shop page for further details of how to have your work considered.
