Clare Morton – Fish Bones and Free People

30 April to 2 July 2022

Glasgow based artist and designer Clare Morton explores gender identity and belonging in her latest large-scale, figurative paintings. Clare, who studied Fine Art at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, has used this exhibition opportunity at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre to create a new body of work and this is her first exposure in the Lincolnshire area. Clare says of her recent work:

‘My paintings explore themes of growing up in a small coastal town in the northern Scottish Highlands. Where identity, sexuality and gender play key narrators of teenage conflict, creativity and self-expression. I am focusing on the unique landscape and remoteness of living there and refer to the recent loss of my father as a way to reflect on past memories and the passing of time’
