Photographer Nic Salmon presents a series of fascinating portraits of individuals in Scunthorpe, separated by time.

Photographed in 1984, and later in 2021, fashions, hairstyles, and sub-cultures have changed, but in many, reminders of the attitudes and styles associated with their youth, are still present today.

“When I undertook my ‘street’ portrait project in 1984, I never thought I would be tramping the streets of Scunthorpe, 35 years later, revisiting those I photographed…”

Photograph Competition – Best of 80’s Scunthorpe

Taking inspiration from Nic Salmon’s 35 Years On exhibition, 20-21 are going to be holding an online ‘Best of 80s Scunthorpe’ photography competition.

You can enter your photograph into one of our categories:

  • Best or worst 80s hairdo
  • Best or worst dressed
  • Best 80s celebrity lookalike

A winner from each category will be picked by Nic Salmon. An overall winner will also be picked by Nic. So start digging out those old photos ready for the start of the competition!
